Ojos del Caburgua is on the Caburgua road, with a left turn-off in the Carhuello area and about 2 km more; El Claro Waterfall is 8.5 km from Pucón via the international road and Los Calabozos street (Pucón Tourism, puconchile.travel). Both charge an entrance fee and have short trails, so you can combine them in a morning or an afternoon.

Ojos del Caburgua and El Claro Waterfall are two waterfalls near Pucón that fit into a single morning or afternoon. Here is how to get there and how to combine them.

Getting to Ojos del Caburgua

  • By car: take the road to Caburgua. Pucón's official tourism website places the left turn-off in the Carhuello area, 21 km from Pucón, then about 2 km more (source: puconchile.travel, Pucón Municipality). Interpatagonia puts it at about 15 km (source: Interpatagonia), so follow the road signs.
  • By bus: we found no official timetable. According to a local guide, on the buses to Caburgua you ask to get off at the El Cristo area and walk about 2 km, 20 to 30 minutes, crossing the bridge toward Carhuello (source: El Camino Pucón, October 6, 2026). • By bike: you can also cycle there (source: Wikipedia, "Ojos del Caburgua").

Getting to El Claro Waterfall

It has two separate entrances, the Los Calabozos lane and Parque Salto del Claro (source: El Trancura, November 9, 2022):

  • Via Los Calabozos: 8.5 km from Pucón, along the international road and Los Calabozos street. Without a car, shared taxis (colectivos) on lines 1, 2 and 4, at the corner of Ansorena and Brasil, drop you at the start of the lane, and from there it's about 5 km on foot (source: puconchile.travel).
  • Via Parque Salto del Claro: 6 km from downtown along the international road; almost at the end of the airfield, turn right into Callejón Silva and continue about 2.8 km. The park warns that its entrance is not via Los Calabozos and recommends a high-clearance vehicle or pickup (source: park website, archived version from December 2024; it was offline when we reviewed this guide).
  • By bike: the gravel road via Los Calabozos is steep (source: Interpatagonia).

Entry, management and parking

  • Ojos del Caburgua: a local guide describes it as a private park that charges an entrance fee and has parking (source: El Camino Pucón). A travel blog says the main entrance is on land belonging to the Mapuche Colipe family (source: Quiero Viajar Sola, March 11, 2026); we found no official source confirming this.
  • El Claro via Los Calabozos: payment is cash only (source: puconchile.travel). We found no official source on who runs this entrance or on parking there.
  • Parque Salto del Claro: a family business with restrooms, private parking, a guided walk and a limit of 50 people a day; it asks you to book (source: park website, 2024).
  • Prices and opening hours: they change; check puconchile.travel or each site.

Trails and difficulty

  • Ojos del Caburgua: a trail of about 700 m (source: puconchile.travel) with wooden boardwalks (source: Quiero Viajar Sola).
  • El Claro Waterfall: an 800 m round-trip trail (source: puconchile.travel). It's short, but the way down to the viewpoints is steep, can be muddy and is not recommended for people with reduced mobility (source: El Trancura).

Can you swim?

  • Ojos del Caburgua: two local guides from 2026 say it's not allowed (sources: El Camino Pucón; Datos Turísticos, June 5, 2026), although older guides such as Interpatagonia mention swimming in summer. We found no official rules: follow the signs. To swim, see Playa Blanca and Playa Negra on Caburgua Lake.
  • El Claro Waterfall: we found no official source on swimming in the pool.

How to combine them in half a day

Both lie east of Pucón: El Claro is closer (6 to 8.5 km depending on the entrance) and the Ojos are on the Caburgua road (sources: puconchile.travel; Parque Salto del Claro). El Claro takes no more than half a day (source: El Trancura) and the Ojos trail is short. By car, start early at El Claro, go on to the Ojos and finish at Caburgua Lake.
